PUT YOUR HANDS UP FOR CHANGE - brooch/ pendant by Linda Connelly:

'Numerous species are under threat of extinction due to climate change, pollution and destruction of habitats. We need to take action now to prevent further damage. The centre panel shows a few species under threat depicted in cloisonne enamel on a dark grey background. The outside shows raised hands of different sizes and shapes symbolising people coming together. Put your hands up for change. It will be a grey world if we allow these creatures to become extinct.'

CONTINUOUS - brooch by Christine Johnson:

The design represents the continuous nature of life. Continuity of purpose; continuity in the face of loss; continuity despite global challenge; continuity of spirit in human endeavour, and the hope for the continuous nature of existence. The forms seen in this work found inspiration in nature, and also in ancient symbolic shapes, especially circles and spirals. The lines show the different directions we can take, and also the containment and organisation we impress upon our lives, which - actually - give us the freedom to pursue the elements of life that interest us and fire us up the most!

Christine is an award-winning contemporary jewellery artist and teacher. She has exhibited in the UK, Europe, North America, and the Far East. She is interested in creating optical effects in her jewellery designs, and many of her pieces are kinetic.
